About Gran Canaria

Gran Canaria, the third-largest of Spain’s Canary Islands, is a captivating destination that offers an incredible diversity of landscapes, climates, and experiences all within a compact 1,560 square kilometres. Known as a “miniature continent,” this volcanic island boasts everything from golden sand dunes and pristine beaches to lush forests and dramatic mountain peaks, making it a year-round paradise for travellers seeking adventure, relaxation, or cultural immersion.

Located off the northwest coast of Africa, Gran Canaria enjoys a subtropical climate with average temperatures ranging from 18°C in winter to 26°C in summer. The island’s unique geography creates multiple microclimates, meaning you can experience sun-soaked beaches in the south while discovering misty pine forests in the mountainous interior, all in the same day.

Home to approximately 850,000 residents, Gran Canaria seamlessly blends Spanish culture with African influences, creating a vibrant atmosphere reflected in its architecture, cuisine, and local traditions. Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, the island’s cosmopolitan capital and largest city, serves as a cultural hub featuring historic neighbourhoods, world-class museums, and one of Europe’s finest urban beaches.
